Early morning stop as we head into the Antarctic Peninsula to pick up two more of Team Whale at Palmer Station. Ari S. Friedlaender is the Principal Investigator at Friedlaender Lab and is very well known in the industry. It was incredible to have someone so involved and knowledgeable on board.
Unfortunately, the weather prohibited us from taking any shore or zodiac excursions. Not to worry though, there was still plenty to see and always a presentation, photo workshop or tea & cake at the ready.
Mountains, icebergs, birds and our first whale sightings still made an otherwise gray and wet day pretty exciting.
Stay tuned for Day 7 (I’m finally feeling like I may catch up!
What have I been working on?
I just wanted to throw this in, for now, I have several more Antarctica blog posts to finish up but I’ve been a bit distracted. If you didn’t know I run an online Photography Scavenger Hunt, it’s been in the middle of some big changes so that has taken up quite a bit of my time. I’ve also been planning my See! Chicago phototour for September. You can sign-up to learn more about each of these projects by clicking the links.
